Tax Commission reopens Coeur d’Alene office, offers limited service in Lewiston
COEUR D’ALENE, IDAHO — August 22, 2011 — The Idaho State Tax Commission has reopened its doors to the public in Coeur d’Alene. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday for walk-in service at 1910 Northwest Blvd., Suite 100. Taxpayers can get answers to their tax questions, assistance in filling out forms, and more. A drop box will remain inside the building entrance for those who just need to drop off a tax payment or correspondence.
“We closed our offices to the public a year ago to consolidate taxpayer service into our call center, which allowed our field offices to concentrate on recovering revenue for the state,” said Tax Commissioner David Langhorst. “Since then, we’ve found we can do both and still offer personal service to taxpayers at our offices on a more limited basis.”
The Tax Commission’s Lewiston office is open only from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 20th of each month. That’s the monthly filing deadline for sales, withholding, and other permit-based tax returns. The Lewiston office is located at 1118 F St. and also has a drop box to leave payments and correspondence from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Taxpayers throughout the state can get their questions answered by calling (800) 972-7660 toll free. Phone service is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mountain Time.
